1.两个音节的形容词字尾为y时加-er, -est,如y前是子音字母,则变

y为i,再加-er和-est。

If you had were two minutes earlier, you could get the last blue

rose.

如果你能早到两分钟,你能得到最后一只蓝玫瑰。

2.有些形容词如pleasant, handsome, common, polite, quiet, stupid

以及字尾是-er, -le和-ow的形容词有两种变化方式:字尾加-er,

-est或字前加more, most。

This “Love” balloon is the most special and pleasantest gift I

have found today.

这个“爱”气球是我今天发现的最特别、最讨人喜欢的礼物。

pleasant/ pleasanter(more pleasant)/ pleasantest(most pleasant)

Let’s try to find a more simple (simpler) way to work out the

problem.

You are more clever (cleverer) than me. And I think you are the

most clever (cleverest) in our class.

3.其他的两音节形容词都是在字前加more, most。

But I think the red one is much more beautiful than the blue one.

beautiful/ more beautiful/ most beautiful

John is the most active student in physics class. You’d better

learn from him and become more active.

约翰在物理课上最活跃,你最好向他学习,变得更活跃一些。

※三个或更多音节形容词有两种情形:

1.原为加-er, -est的两音节形容词,加了字首而变成三音节后,依

然在字尾加-er, -est。

You are not the unhappiest person today. Look at that boy!

你不是今天最不开心的人。看那个男孩!

unhappy/ unhappier/ unhappiest

Anyway I’m uneasier than you about the coming physics test.

反正我比你对即将到来的物理考试更担心。

2.其余一律在字前加more, most。

This job is more difficult than I thought before.

这活儿比我以前想的要困难。

difficult/ more difficult/ most difficult

Physics is the most difficult subject for me.

对我来说物理是最难的学科。

It is more difficult than other courses for many students.

对很多学生来说,物理比其它科目更难。

But I think doing experiments is the most interesting part of the

class.

但是我认为做实验是课堂上最有趣的事情。

Cheer up! We both have to be more diligent in our study.

振作起来!我们都必须更勤奋地学习。
